Coaxial piston seals, most commonly known as Glyd Rings, are specifically designed for double-acting hydraulic cylinders. Unlike uni-directional lip seals, the coaxial profile provides equal sealing efficiency from both directions. The system utilizes a high-modulus PTFE sliding ring energized by a high-resilience O-ring. This combination allows Carlock Sealing to provide a solution that maintains a stable seal under high-pressure reversals while ensuring exceptionally low breakout friction.


Q: Why use a Glyd PTFE Ring instead of two back-to-back U-cups?
A: Carlock Sealing's Glyd PTFE Rings significantly save space by fitting into a single, compact groove. More importantly, they offer much lower friction and eliminate the risk of "pressure trapping" between seals, making them safer and more efficient for high-frequency reciprocating pistons.

Q: Can Coaxial Piston Seals handle high pressure?
A: Yes. When manufactured with our reinforced Filled PTFE grades and supported by correct hardware clearances, our Glyd Rings can operate reliably at pressures up to 600 bar. For extreme pressure spikes, we can customize the profile and material hardness to provide maximum extrusion resistance.
