FKM (Fluorocarbon), widely known by the brand name Viton™, is the premier elastomer for high-temperature and chemically aggressive environments. Carlock Sealing’s FKM seals are engineered to withstand conditions that would cause standard rubbers to degrade and fail. With the ability to maintain mechanical properties at temperatures exceeding 200°C, our CNC machined FKM components are essential for oil and gas downhole tools, chemical processing plants, and high-performance automotive engines.
FKM has good resistance to high temperature, weathering, oxidation, various chemicals and weathering. It is suitable for hydraulic oil containing HFD and sulfur-containing mineral oil, crude oil and acid gas. It is not suitable for hot water, ketones, pure ammonia, amines and low molecular weight organic acids.
- Exceptional Thermal Resistance: Operates continuously at temperatures up to +200°C, with intermittent peaks even higher.
- Outstanding Chemical Stability: Resistant to a broad spectrum of chemicals, including oils, fuels, lubricants, and most mineral acids.
- Low Gas Permeability: Excellent for high-vacuum applications and preventing gas leakage in pressurized systems.
- Superior Aging Resistance: Highly resistant to ozone, weather, and mold, ensuring a long shelf life and service life in extreme climates.
Technical Disclaimer: FKM is not recommended for use with ketones (such as MEK), low molecular weight esters, or nitro-containing compounds. Performance at maximum temperature limits is dependent on the specific chemical environment.
